I'll be discussing some of the most effective methods to monetize your website in this book, along with a ton of helpful advice and tools to get you going right away.
Don't pursue them all at once, however!  I highly advise selecting one or two that speak to you and your website and giving them your whole attention initially.
Let's begin with my list of 20 methods to make money from a website, in no specific order!
Ways to monetize a website
The greatest methods for making money out of your website are as follows:
1. Affiliate promotion

21145119.png

Promoting a product or service to website visitors in exchange for a commission if a transaction is made via your link is what it means to be an affiliate.
Join the Awin network to have access to hundreds of affiliate programs, which include well-known companies like Nike, Etsy, and Travelodge.
Then just add an affiliate link (given by Awin) to your website whenever you mention items from your selected partners.
View our comprehensive guide to affiliate marketing to learn how to get started and start earning money.
2. Employ Skimlinks
Similar to Awin and other affiliate networks, Skimlinks lets you be paid when people buy anything from your website.
The main distinction is that Skimlinks may be set up on your website to automatically monetize your content in addition to letting you generate individual affiliate links whenever you'd like.
Skimlinks will automatically turn a link into an affiliate link if you include a link to a merchant that is a member of their network in your article.
If a visitor uses your link to make a purchase, you will be compensated; commissions range from 10% to 15%.
3. Include banner ads
By copying and pasting code into your website, you may quickly set up network ads using Google Adsense or Media.net to produce ads that are relevant to a visitor's most recent web search.
You can consider more premium ad networks as your blog begins to grow.  The finest ones may rapidly turn into a significant source of revenue for your website, but they do demand a certain amount of visits each month before you can join.
You may check out Monumetric, which has over 10,000 views per month.  Even larger companies like Mediavine and Raptive are also available, but they demand you to have at least 50,000 sessions or 100,000 views each month, respectively.
Both networks do, however, currently provide choices for smaller websites that are not related to their primary programming.  Raptive Rise requires more than 50,000 views per month, whereas Journey by Mediavine accepts blogs with about 1,000 sessions.
Another site that is becoming more and more popular for bloggers looking to monetize their material is Taboola.  It works by showing relevant content from their network's sponsors in place of banners.
These networks will pay you either on a cost per click (CPC) or cost per impression (CPM) basis, or each time a visitor clicks on an advertisement.
Additionally, you may sell banner advertisements directly to businesses that provide related goods or services.  Since you will be setting the prices yourself and the advertiser will ideally know that your audience is one they want to target, this alternative may be much more lucrative.

4. Employ text link promotion
Charge a set monthly fee (e.g. £20) and provide simple text links to an advertiser's website (in-content advertising).  Alternatively, you might charge each click.
There are numerous of marketplaces such as Backlinks and LinksPanel where you may post your service.
5.Sell to email subscribers
The greatest regret we hear from bloggers is not launching an email list sooner.
Get an account with AWeber from day one to capture your audience and engage with them after they've left the site.
After that, you may send them emails with suggested items that they might find interesting (affiliate marketing), and you can be paid a variety of commissions if they join up or make a purchase.
6. Post sponsored content

Ads in the form of articles that often include a link to the advertiser's website are called sponsored posts, or advertorials.
Even if an advertiser sends you the piece, you may charge for your time and earn money if you can create the material for them.
Depending on how well-known your website is, a sponsored article may bring in anywhere from £35 to £1,000+.
Advertisers are searching on Facebook, so join blogger network groups and post your website there.
Note: According to advertising laws, you must always include "Sponsored Post" anywhere on your page if a third party pays you to publish an item on your website.
7. Examine the merchandise
This is particularly relevant if your audience is specialized, such as new parents or die-hard gamers.
However, you may still join the product-testing bandwagon even if your readers aren't from a certain demographic.  Companies will be more than ready to give you freebies and potentially even pay you if you give them a positive review after using the product.

8. Market digital goods
Digital items that may help you generate a steady passive revenue from your website include eBooks, printables, graphics, templates, and podcasts.
You could sell a 5,000-word eBook for around £2.99.  Although 20 eBook sales a month may not seem like much, they will quickly add up.
Visit the Envato Marketplace to get ideas and inspiration.
9. Market tangible goods

Make use of your website as a foundation for your physical goods sales.  For instance, you may use Zazzle to make t-shirts or mugs, maybe even including your website's logo if you believe that people will purchase them.
Building an e-commerce website is one of the best ways to sell goods online.  We offer a ton of advice on how to launch a Shopify shop to get you going.
Shopify is an excellent platform, but it's not your only choice.  See our guide to the top e-commerce website builders for further inspiration.
Additionally, you may make handcrafted goods to sell on Etsy or eBay.
However, whatever you sell, be sure to connect to the marketplace from your website. This will offer you an immediate edge over other platform vendors.
10. Add a directory of businesses.
Create a business directory page where businesses may pay you a certain amount to get listed.
Depending on the volume of visitors to your website, you might charge a monthly or yearly listing fee and charge anything from £20 to £500 (and more) annually.
Let's take an example where you ran a website that reviewed sound systems.  You might charge independent online and offline merchants to be included on a page that lists locations that sell high-end speakers, assuming that websites like Amazon are already fairly well-known.

11. Post high-quality content
You may make money from producing really helpful articles.
Suppose you are able to disclose some obscure tactics in an article on your gaming website.  By offering a few pointers and then directing them to a password-protected page (which is an option in WordPress) with the most important information, you might pique their interest.
After paying you via PayPal, the reader receives the password to access the premium material.  You may charge whatever you want, but a quality item should cost between £2 and £10.
It's obvious that this method has some validity since you may have seen some of the major media sites, such as The Telegraph and The Times, using it.
12. Include a forum for members.
A'members-only' forum may be added to your website using free WordPress plugins such as bbPress.  You may then charge a one-time access price or a recurring subscription to make money off of this.
Importantly, how much value you can provide to forum users determines how much money you can make.  You're on the right track if you can make your forum users into a true community that networks and exchanges advice.

13. Develop a course online
As an addition to your website, make an online course.  Another kind of paid premium content is this one, where users may purchase access to more details.
You may post the course to Udemy to reach a larger audience, or you can use AWeber to send it automatically to those who have paid and subscribed using their email address.
If you need some ideas, check out our list to free online courses, or just consider what your readers could find interesting.  For instance, you might provide a course that teaches people how to crochet if your website is about arts and crafts.
14. Establish your own affiliate network
You may start an affiliate program and find affiliates to assist promote your website once you've produced your product or products, such an eBook or course.
Both product sales and website traffic may increase as a result.  There are many free WordPress plugins to get you started, and it's a win-win situation.
While a significant number of the firms we partner with at Save the Student manage their affiliate marketing via networks like Awin, many others—most notably Amazon—do it alone.  That is, any approach may be effective.
15. Make a page called "Hire Me."

50323101009.png

Building a website will teach you new skills that you may use to supplement your income.
Create a 'Hire Me' section on your website and begin by offering freelance writing and blogging services.  Why not promote your services as a developer if you were more active in building up the technical aspects of your website?
You may also provide these services via Upwork in addition to your website.  Depending on expertise, a freelance writer may earn between £15 and £50+ per hour.
Furthermore, there are other freelance websites outside Upwork.  For further advice, including the top websites for promoting your services, see our guide to freelancing.
16. Request contributions
Include a straightforward PayPal contribution button on your website and invite visitors who like your material to contribute a few pounds, which is the same as buying you coffee.  If you have a Buy Me A Coffee page, you may also link to it.
Wikipedia, your buddy, and some of the largest websites in the world rely entirely or partially on contributions.
In the end, you don't receive if you don't ask.
17. Make a page for your Amazon shop.

23100801.png

The great thing about Amazon is that it sells almost everything you could possibly desire.  Regardless of the topic of your website, it's likely that Amazon offers related items.
Adding a distinct Amazon shop page to your website is simple.  People will pay attention to your advice on which items to try if they believe you are an expert on the subject.
If one of your readers purchases a product after clicking on your link, you will get a reward ranging from 1% to 20% on product sales if you sign up for the Amazon affiliate program.
18. Produce YouTube video material
In addition to keeping visitors engaged, producing video content for your website may also bring in money.
Uploading video footage to YouTube and configuring Google Adsense is one method to make money off of it (Google has a great tutorial).  Check out our guide on YouTube revenue generation while you're at it.
You may embed your YouTube videos on your blog when you've finished creating your video content.  You might make hundreds of dollars in ad income if your video gets popular.

19. Work as a consultant
Why not provide your expertise in exchange for an hourly consulting fee if you are an authority in a certain field?
Promote your business online and share your knowledge via paid webinars, podcasts, or even video calls where participants pay in advance to have access to your expertise.
You should absolutely think about charging for some customized guidance if people visit your website for your knowledgeable explanations and views, regardless of the medium you use.

You will have an asset if your website is already profitable and generating a healthy amount of visitors.
Your website may be sold, just like any other asset, and Flippa and BusinessesForSale.com are here to assist you in finding a buyer when the time is right.
